This combined show is divided into three divisions, each with its own separate set of exhibition rules:

Classification and placement are the responsibility of the exhibitor. Clerks will be present to assist with classification and placement questions. Judging in Divisions I, II and III will be according to rules, regulations, and guidelines of the American Rose Society. It is highly recommended that exhibitors call to reserve space for challenge classes in Division I Section 6.
Space for entries in Divisions II (arrangements) and Division III (photography) will not be guaranteed without reservations made before 11 am on August 19. To reserve space leave a message with your name, telephone number, and planned class entry(ies) at 746-1140. Your reserved space(s) will be indicated on the entry tables. Note that the entry times for Divisions I-III close at 10:00 am.
Note that only judges, clerks, and authorized Committee personnel will be permitted in the show area during judging.

Many of these silver tropies are over 40 years old and were donated by businesses and Society supporters. Only persons who continue to be and have been members of the Reno Rose Society for at least a year prior to the show are eligible to receive any of the perpetual trophies.The awardee's name is engraved on the trophy and the awardee has possession of the trophy for one year. These trophies remain the property of the Society. |

These awards are presented to exhibitors for having the best entry in certain entry classes and meeting standards set by the American Rose Society for those classes. |
DIVISION I
ARS ROSE HORTICULTURE SECTION
ARS RULES AND INFORMATION FOR EXHIBITORS
| 1. |
The Reno Rose Show will be governed by the standard rules, regulations, and guidelines of the American Rose Society. All judging in Division I will be done according to the rules and regulations of the American Rose Society and decisions of the judges shall be final. |
| 2. |
All blooms from one garden must be exhibited under one name or one team only. |
| 3. |
Show area will be open to entries from 8:00 to 10:00 am on August 20. Preparation area will open at 7:30 am. All entries must remain in place until 5:00 pm and should be removed at the close of show on August 20, 2011. |
| 4. |
All entries must conform to the schedule or be disqualified. Entries in Section 4 with no date of introduction included on the entry tag will be disqualified. Specimens with a "stem-on-stem" condition will be disqualified unless they are properly classed and tagged shrub, old garden rose, or fragrance entries. |
| 5. |
Entry tags for Division I entries will be furnished by the Reno Rose Society. |
| 6. |
Containers will be provided, except in Classes 23-25. Only clear, uncolored containers (bowls) are permitted in Classes 23-25 of Division I. Containers will conform to "Classic Rose Bowl" or brandy snifter shapes. The use of colored water is prohibited. |
| 7. |
Wedges, provided by the exhibitor, may be used, but must not protrude above the lip of the container. |
| 8. |
To be eligible for entry, cultivar name must be recognized by the American Rose Society and must have been grown by the exhibitor outdoors for at least 45 days. |
| 9. |
Classification of roses will be in accordance with the most recent entry in MODERN ROSES, Official List of Approved Exhibition Names, HANDBOOK FOR SELECTING ROSES, and new registrations published more than 30 days before the AMERICAN ROSE MAGAZINE or on the ARS website. Names in the Combined Rose List (Dobson and Schneider) as allowed by ARS guidelines are also permitted. Roses not exhibited under the accepted name will be disqualified. |
| 10. |
This is an alphabetically arranged show in ALL classes. Each variety shall constitute a separate class, except where different varieties are required (i.e. 25[b] combination of varieties). Only one entry per class or subclass per exhibitor/team is allowed. |
| 11. |
First, second, third, and honorable mention ribbons will be awarded as warranted, but judges may withhold any at their discretion. Trophies and certificates will be awarded only to specimens meriting first place (blue) ribbons. |
| 12. |
Only persons who continue to be and have been members of the Reno Rose Society for at least a year prior to the show are eligible to receive any of the perpetual trophies. Perpetual trophies remain property of the Society. Annual awards may be awarded to persons ineligible to receive perpetual trophies. |
| 13. |
The Reno Rose Society assumes no responsibility for loss, injury to persons, or damage to property. |

DIVISION II "Once Upon a Rose Garden"
ARS ROSE ARRANGEMENT SECTION
ARS RULES AND INFORMATION FOR EXHIBITORS
| 1. |
Entries may be placed in a designated area on Saturday, August 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. All arrangements must remain in place until 5:00 p.m. Entries are to be removed at the close of the show on August 20, 2011. Tables with white cloth coverings will be provided. |
| 2. |
Exhibitors are limited to one entry per class, but may enter as many classes for which they are eligible. |
| 3. |
All exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor. No arrangements previously exhibited in any other flower show shall be entered. |
| 4. |
No one but the exhibitor may touch or move an arrangement. In extreme circumstance, when the exhibitor cannot be located, the arrangement chairman may move an arrangement. The show committee cannot be responsible for exhibits; reasonable care will be exercised. |
| 5. |
Roses must be the dominant flower in all arrangements and must be home-grown outdoors. At least one rose should be fully open or have exhibition form. Plant material need not be grown by the exhibitor except where stated. The rose varieties must be correctly named (ARS-approved exhibition name) on the entry tags. |
| 6. |
Only roses officially classified as miniature or mini-flora roses are to be used in miniature arrangements. |
| 7. |
Other flowers and foliage are permitted unless specifically prohibited. No artificial flowers or foliage and no painted, dyed, or sprayed fresh foliage or flowers are permitted. Succulents will be considered as foliage. Some dried plant material may be used. Live creatures are not allowed. |
| 8. |
The use of roses that are not home-grown outdoors or artificial plant material are causes for disqualification. |
| 9. |
Accessories are permitted in all categories. Frames are not permitted except where specified. Freestanding backgrounds are permitted. The American flag or the flag of any country may not be used in an arrangement or as a decoration in any way. The use of plant material on the state or local conservation lists is not permitted. Infringement of these rules will result in severe penalties. |
| 10. |
Entries must be smaller than the size restrictions stated within the schedule and if over-sized will be severely penalized and become ineligible for blue ribbons and awards. Exhibitors may designate the area of the entry through the use of undercloths, niches, or other means. |
| 11. |
It is highly recommended that a card of intent be included with an arrangement as an explanation of the arranger's interpretation of the theme of the class title, particularly in classes designated as arranger's choice of design or theme. |
| 12. |
Only BLUE RIBBON winners are eligible for certificates, awards, or trophies. ARS Certificates may be awarded to eligible first-place entries scoring at least 92 points if roses are arranger-grown and the entry tag is marked "AG". Perpetual trophies can only be awarded for entries with arranger-grown roses and an entry tag marked "AG" and to persons who continue to be and have been members of the Reno Rose Society for at least a year prior to the show. Ribbons and other awards may be withheld at the judges' discretion. |

The schedule is the law of the show, and entries must conform. By entering this show given under ARS rules, exhibitors agree to abide by those rules. All judging in Division II will be governed by the standard rules, regulations, and guidelines of the American Rose Society. The decision of the judges is final. |

ROSE PHOTOGRAPHY
RULES AND INFORMATION FOR EXHIBITORS

By entering the show, exhibitors give the Reno Rose Society the right to reproduce and keep the exhibitors' entries. Exhibitors desiring to keep their entries must provide a digital version acceptable to the Photography Chair or Show Chair in return for their entries. |

Entrants are limited to one entry per class, but may enter as many classes for which they are eligible. |
| 5. |
Photographs must be a minimum of 5" x 7", printed on photo-quality paper. |
| 6. |
All photos must have been taken by the entrant, who must be an amateur photographer. An amateur is defined as someone who does not have a business license as a photographer. |
| 7. |
The entrant may enter photographs of other people’s roses or gardens. |
| 8. |
Photographs which have won awards in previous contests are not eligible. |
| 9. |
The rose photos will be entered under the ARS Approved Exhibition Names. Grooming the rose(s) is encouraged, and artificial backgrounds may be used. |

Entry tags will be provided by the Reno Rose Society. Both the top and bottom of entry tags must be completely filled out. A limited number of easels will be provided by the Society. |

Photographs may be enhanced by the use of any graphic program, such as Photoshop, Elements or Photo Impact. |
