Please come and attend the annual Rose Pruning Demonstration on Saturday, April 5, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM until 11:00AM. in the Reno Municipal Rose Garden, east of the California Building in Idlewild Park. This is a great opportunity for residents to learn proper rose pruning techniques for the variety of different roses. Admission is free, and the City of Reno Horticulturalist can really use our help.

This demonstration instructs on the pruning needs of individual rose types based on rose species and the best time of year in the Truckee Meadows to prune them.  The garden has 1200 roses including climber roses, miniature roses, hybrid tea roses, and floribunda roses.

Please bring gloves and sharp bypass pruning shears to prune the roses after the demonstration.  Consulting Rosarians from the American Rose Society and the City's Horticulturist will be on hand to answer questions on all aspects of rose culture and pruning.

If you would like further information, please contact Rebecca Shaw at 775-544-9259.   Learn about the volunteer opportunities to help maintain this beautiful rose garden within the city of Reno.
